Salsa Music 28 - Unscripted Salsa Tangents

This is probably the most unprofessional episode we’ve made so far… Well, in this episode of addicted2salsa we have our special guest Karlos Oregel providing us some of his preferred salsa songs from his vast collection. We also talk a little bit about the artists and go off on tangents as usual. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the song selections as well as our special guest! Enjoy and send your feedback. Our song list is as follows:

  • Soy Profesional by Justo Betancourt
  • El Mulato Rumbero by Louie Ramirez
  • Suavito by Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz
  • Noche de Salsa by Paquito D’Rivera and Louie Ramirez
  • Baho-Kende by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico
  • Jacobo Basura by Bobby Valentin

    Nice.

I particularly liked the last song “Las Chicas de Venezuela” because I’ve recently started learning Spanish (Estoy aprendiendo Español) and the song covers lots of country names in the Spanish speaking world (learning the pronunciations from a song is much more fun than repeating after a tape!).

Actually, on this point does anyone know a good website where it gives the lyrics of salsa songs (preferably with English translations!)

    Cheers,

    D.

The chacha song in the podcast episode is really great!
Anthony, when I hear you talking, I got the feeling you should change the name of your website to addicted2chacha ;) I heard about inserting the chacha step in salsa as a special shine: 12 chachacha 567. Sounds familiar to anyone?
I am aware of thefact that chacha should be danced on2.

The nice thing about dancing cha-cha on2 is that you can adapt many of the On2 salsa moves to it.

Are your voices deeper or is it just me? I want to do a podcast! Great music that I haven’t heard before, thx Karlos. And I think that talking to each other makes it more fun. You should definitely do it with a girl. I mean the podcast. Doctor doctor, give me some glucosamine!!!

Yeah, your voices do sound a little deeper, haha. But it was a great podcast, just when I thought one song was my favorite, the next one made me think twice. You guys know so much about these songs and their history, simply amazing. I’m inspired.

Gamestop? Oasis? You guys are hilarious!!

Karlos, I need to tap into you for music. I like your taste, Mr. Smoothe.

Correction: Sorry I messed up… Quique Lucca is actually Papo Lucca’s dad not older brother.. Infact Papo means “Junior” :-( And just to add to the background: Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez and the other is Pete ” Mr. Boogaloo” Rodriguez…:-) Both Puerto Ricans and not related :-)
