The difference does lie in the turn however, it’s not hidden. As you bring your follow across for the cross-body-lead and begin to turn her, notice his right hand! It never makes it over her head! Instead he rests it on her right shoulder. Had he brought his hand over her head, she would have ended up in the same position as in the Submarine combo! Hope this helps! :)
