Can someone tell me the name of this song and maybe the artist name. If you can’t name the song can someone spell out some lyrics in English so that I can try and download it from iTunes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlUKv2Mnt_w&feature=related . The song starts at 1:42 into the video.

I was doiong some shine practice and decided to follow Ray Barretto around on utube a bit.

    In the past there have been requests for a fast salsa, well here’s another one to add to your “fast salsa” playlist;

Oh yeah. This is a nasty fast song. When these songs go on I grab the first girl I can.

    Hey All,

I am looking for the name of this salsa song which I hear played at salsa clubs all the time.

Part of the lyrics are: “I want you, I want you…” and the rest is in spanish.

I’ve managed to record a bit of the song and upload it if that helps. I think the main part comes at the 20 second mark of the clip. Which you can download here:

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=URRFSEXN

Quicktime can be used to play the clip.

    Thanks for any replies!!

    Tags: hook turn

    Hello guys,

I am fairly comfortable with regular spins, but I struggle when it comes to hook turns. They turn out rather wobbly. What is the proper technique to do them? Weight distribution, what part of the feet to use for the turn, anything more to pay attention to?

    Thanks,
    Martin

With a regular right turn, there is a weight shift from left foot to right foot, the right foot and leg being the axis of turn. With the hook, there is also a weight shift from left to right (now hooked behind the left), but the timing of the weight shift is slightly different. The impetus for the hook comes from “untwisting” your feet as you begin the turn, which means that weight is evenly distributed between the two. As you pick up momentum, the weight again shifts to the right foot/leg as the axis of rotation.

There are several potential reasons for the wobble: 1. Your posture/balance might need improving; 2. You are trying to use your core (spine/breastbone) as the axis of rotation instead of the line from the ball of your foot, up your leg to your head; 3. You are shifting weight from left to right too quickly, throwing yourself off-balance while you are still developing momentum; 4. You are becoming slightly dizzy, remedied by spotting; 5. Your arms are not helping you balance by being bent at the elbows in “salsa position”; 6. If the problem with the hook turn is in combination with a regular right turn, you may not have the right turn in good control before you attempt the hook – work on incremental turn control (turning 1/4 all the way around, then 1/2 all the way around, then 3/4, then full).

      Hope this helps.

    Tags: , intensive, recommendation,

    Hi,

I’m hoping someone can give me a recommendation. I’m a strong salsa dancer and have been dancing for years, but I do not have enough time to social dance regularly and I do not have a regular partner. I am planning to take three months off this winter and I would like to take intensive salsa lessons somewhere. I would really like to move my dancing up a couple of notches. I have no interest in competing, just in dancing really, really well. I work for a non-profit and do not have a lot of money, so I’m looking to go somewhere affordable. I speak Spanish and would like to go to Latin America. Can anyone recommend the best spot to take a couple of months of intensive lessons and not break the bank? Country preference? City preference? School or teacher recommendation?

    Thank you!

Shazam! Sounds like Jazzy by Willie Colon to me. Available in several versions on iTunes.
