    Hey everyone,

I was at this salsa party a few weeks ago with some friends, and there was this really good dancer. At one point, he did this really cool move, which my partner and I have been trying to replicate, to no avail. We only saw the move once and did not pay any attention to the details at that time unfortunately. Perhaps anyone here can help? I’ll try to describe it, but since I’m not a native English speaker, I hope I can explain it.
Imagine the guy with the girl standing on his right side, leaning against him, holding each other tight. The guy then moves to the left, away from the girl, but keeps his right leg in place. The girl keeps leaning forward against him though, feet still in the same place. The closest image I could find would be this one (http://www.lavidatango.com/img/VictorElena.jpg ), just imagine the girl having both feet together, fully leaning forward against the man.
As I said, my partner and I are really keen on doing this move, but we can’t find anything on the internet. Does anyone here perhaps know a video which has this or a similar move in it? Or can you give some explanation/tips on how to pull this off?

    Regards,
    Mart

      Hello there Mart,

I think you might be talking about a “hip dip.” I know it as a simple “aerial” move from dancing swing. I have seen it in countless other dances including salsa.

I’m sure there’s a video of it being danced in salsa but I couldn’t find it.

Here is a swing version (20 second mark.) If this is the move, at least other people will have a visual of what you are talking about.

Thanks Marco! That looks a lot like the move I’ve seen. I also found some similar videos on youtube using “hip dip”

I’m definitely going to try this with my partner! Hope she’s not afraid to try the more daring/spectacular variations ;) Any way, thanks a lot!

        Regards,
        Mart

Anyone know of any salsa songs with the eurodance feel? Most of the eurodance songs are either too fast or too slow depending on which beats you use. Yet a lot of them have a very strong 1 and 3.

    For example:

Oh cool. If you go to workshops you have to tell us which ones. I think my school, San Tropez, will be performing.

Went to Denver two weeks ago and had a chance to go to a La Rumba on a Thursday night and was a little disappointed that the dancers weren’t that great. I’m hoping that it was just a bad night, but the place was packed, so I don’t know.

Everyone says that Montreal is one of the top dance cities in North America, so maybe I’m just spoiled.
