Does anyone know where in London, England, I can get salsa videos (New York style); for example featuring patterns by Juan Matos

Have you tried SalsaFever, http://www.salsafever.co.uk/? I don’t know if they carry Juan Matos, but it’s been my experience that they’re selection is quite large (they’re the only people I know of who carry a pachanga lesson dvd, by Jorjet Alocer).

Thanks for the reply. Kindly recommend a good salsa lesson dvd preferably new york style I can order from the US or UK. It will be helpful if you can state the name of the company that stocks it or their web site.

Could someone please tell me where I can buy the mp3 version of the track ‘El-Temblor’ used in the video captioned ‘The copa salsa move’ by Anthony. Date of video is 21/03/06. I have looked at itunes & e-music & Amazon, but not the right version

    Many thanks in advance

My name is Natasa and I’ m from Greece- Europe. I’ve been doing salsa lessons for 5 months now, but I have two big problems. The first on is that I don’t have very good stability after spinning and the second one is that sometimes I don’t understand the dancing partner, when he wants to do some moves, like double spinning or triple spinning. Please help me because I want so much to go out to dance, but I’m so scared that I’ll not do it in a proper way. thank you.

The best advice I can give you is to take lessons from a good salsa instructor/studio. I’m not familiar with any salsa people in Greece, so I can’t recommend anyone to you unfortunately.

I was wondering, what methods do people use to remember whether to step back or foward after a long string of tricks are performed together. I seem to find myself coming out of a move going in the wrong direction.

You have to be listening to the music and know where you are in the 8 beat (dancer’s) bar. After some practice, you should be able to just know where you are in the music at any time.

If you still end up on the wrong side of the bar (it happens to me sometimes too), it’s a simple matter to use a transition step or move to get back to the right side.
