If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you might have guessed why we have been very quiet over the past few months. While I am a salsa enthusiast, I’m also a “technologist” at heart (a.k.a “geek”). A few months ago, I started working on our first iPhone / iPod Touch application to help create a quick mobile reference guide to common salsa moves that everyone learns at their classes. My hope is that by allowing you to access any salsa learning material on the go, it will motivate you to practice “anywhere”, and therefore help you become a better dancer faster than you can sing “very simple” to clave. While we wait for Apple to approve our application submission to the AppStore, we decided to make a quick video to give you a preview on what to expect.
Please note that we shot all new shot video clips for this mobile format and we consider it supplemental to our salsa dance podcast or your local dance lessons.
[UPDATE] The application is now available on the App Store.
A HUGE thank you to all of our beta testers. Your feedback was very helpful and kept me motivated to add awesome features! I’d like to send a special thank you to these beta testers for being the active contributors to our beta group: Tom T., SalsAlx, Mehdi, Alex S. and Daniel Wong.

Great work everyone! I’m looking forward to downloading this app onto my iPod touch. I’ve been using your podcasts a lot over the past few weeks to help me practice my steps and also learn a lot of new moves.
That looks cool!!! I have been dancing nearly a year now. Think about at least 40% of my usual moves are learnt through your podcast. Thank you very much. Does it mean that you will stop podcasting?
waaaaw , it’s a great idea , i just love the site & i have learned alot from the videos , u r the best salsa dancing site ever , ………………… isn’t there a version for nokia mobile phones ?!!
When will this be available for release?
I looked for it on the iTunes store and nothing came up.
We have submitted it to the AppStore – waiting for Apple’s review and approval.
That is going to be awesome! Thanks for the response!
Does it work for Ipod Touch?
I’m having a problem sync’ing, I downloaded the app, but it won’t let me sync the app into my Ipod touch, I click in Itunes my Ipod at the left tab, go into apps, but won’t let me turn on the “Sync Apps” check box, anyone knows how to fix this?
That seems to be a different issue with iTunes and not with our app.
… and will there be an Android app coming soon?
Now that’s gonna be a nifty app! I’m looking forward to it! Anthony, you’re worth your wheight in gold!
Greetings from The Netherlands.
wow, very nice, can’t wait for it to be released!
Very cool. I love it! I can’t wait to see it in the app store. How much will it cost?
The app has just been approved by Apple and can be found on the AppStore! I hope you all like it! http://addicted2salsa.com/iphone
Great job with the App! It has an easy to use interface and I love how it has the recommended videos section just like the website does.
I have found a couple of bugs with the app. Mainly that the video in the videos does not play. The audio works fine. I tried saving the videos and playing them but it too does not work. Secondly, after trying to play a vid, if I try to watch a recommended video it too fails when the video player is retrieving the content. Afterwards, if I re-launch the app and go directly to the recommended video sections, the videos will play fine.
I’m running the App on an iPod Touch 2nd Gen with the 3.1.3 OS installed.
Hope the feedback is helpful!
certainly a good application, but why is it not compatible with iphone OS 3.1.2 ??
Most of the people are still using this version…
I like the pocketsalsa app. I don’t have an iPhone. Any plans to put this out on Android app store? (For Droid users?)
I have the same issue that Bambu has plz fixx I want to dance…thanku
I hada problem with videoplay as well until I restarted my Iphone. That solved it and since then it has been working perfectly.
Hi, I’m afraid that I too have the same issue as Bambu – in that the audio for the videos works but I get no picture. This is on an iPod Touch btw. Cheers
IPOD TOUCH 2G USERS: I’m fixing an issue that was found with the video encoding. This would cause the ‘audio’ to only be heard with no picture. I’m in the process of isolating the issue and resolving it in the next update. Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience.
Hi Anthony, is it still possible to download the dance videos and not go through iTunes?
Also, app for Android would be good:-). Cheers.
I’ve just bought it. I know it is going to be a great app. Congratulations. Greetings from Guadalajara, México.
acabo de comprar la aplicación, desafortunadamente no puedo ver los videos, solo puedo escucharlos. se bloquea la aplicación. espero corrijan estos errores. en la actualización.
Amazing app, although I got some weird stares at the Salsa club last night…
Keep the videos coming!
