As we get closer to the new season of addicted2salsa starting in september we’d like to make a quick announcement. To your surprise, addicted2salsa is currently run by Julie and I (Anthony) from our apartment and from our own budget and spare time. We are glad to provide all of our addicted2salsa dance video lessons free of charge for anyone to learn. However, that does not mean that they are free for us to make. We have a LOT of expenses that come out of our own pocket such as: running a website, costs of renting a studio to film, video equipment, editing software, site bandwidth, the coffee to keep myself awake while I work on the site at 1:00am … the list goes on and on. Therefore, we appreciate any monetary contributions you are willing to provide us. Every little bit helps us teach the current and future generations of salsa dancers. Your contributions go directly to our costs, and helps us grow the website to offer new engaging content and services. Think of it as if you were buying us a cup of coffee !
We are currently looking to make some new equipment purchases for our video work (including a new computer). We believe that if every fan contributed at least $1.00 we can meet our goal by August 30th, 2009 (addicted2salsa’s 4 year anniversary!). By clicking on the chip-in box to the left, you can contribute any amount securely through Paypal (credit cards accepted) ! Thanks you all for your ongoing support of this website – we could not do this without loyal fans as yourselves!
For those wondering, we will start publishing the new “season” of salsa dance episodes starting in September. Julie and I are trying to catch up to our real non-salsa day jobs.
We would like to wish a Happy 2009 to all of our friends, family and addicted2salsa fans all over the world. Julie and I hope that 2009 brings joy and happiness to all of you and would like to thank you for your continued support during 2008.
No matter where you dance in the world, we hope you add to your New Year’s resolution to introduce salsa to at least one person so that everyone gets a chance to experience salsa once in their lifetime : whether its the music, the dance or the addicting lifestyle.
Do you have any fun or interesting New Year’s dance/music resolutions?
We have just finished relaunching the Salsa Dance Lessons website to make it easier for everyone to view and download all the current and future episodes of the #1 Free Salsa Video Lesson podcast. With this new website, you should be able to view the videos in higher quality (even the old ones), in fullscreen and you should be able to directly download all the videos to your desktop. This should help make salsa dancing more accessible to everyone around the world.
I will be adding features for people to leave comments on any video and to ask questions about any specific moves. If you see some other feature that would make the website even better or easier to use – please don’t hesitate to send your feedback.
I’m sure you have now figured out why I have been ‘quiet’ for the past few months. I’d like to thank Julie for running addicted2salsa and answering emails while I was locked in the “dungeon” working. We will start working on new episodes for the fall soon.
Well, after getting great feedback from all of you, here it is – a more complicated salsa pattern. It is a very long pattern, so take it in strides and small bites. We have named the individual moves to help you piece the entire salsa combination together. Now, because it is Valentine’s Day (soon) – you can have something to practice with that special someone
.Enjoy and if you have questions, please ask it at our forums http://addicted2salsa.com/facebook/ !
The song used in the episode is “Philadelphia Mambo” by Los Gatos (originally by Tito Puente)
So, here we are again with a simple salsa dancing move for you to mix it in to your other moves. Remember, it is not about having multiple long combos, but about putting smaller ones together in different orders. That will keep your moves fresh and keep the ladies guessing what you will do next. Additionally, for those who are thinking about on2, I make a small note for you to pay attention to the counting rhythm when performing the move. Enjoy!
