Is it me or am I alone in finding this clever and technically superb but lacking in soul, joy or artistic musical interpretation? I’ve seen several videos and demonstrations of of even faster and frantic spinning that are impressive but leave me cold. It strikes me as something to do some of the time but not repetitively.
I wrote the above comment before watching the second of the two videos. THe second I think is a wonderful demonstration of how spinning can be performed with beauty.
I hear what you are talking about.
Carlos (the first guy) is a great technicion, and he represented himself well while dancing with a world class follow (no small feat) but he didn’t look like he was having fun.
That said anyone would be hard pressed to measure up to a “flow-master” like Milton Cobo.
i liked both of the videos, and usually find it hard to spin anyways, so just slowed my spin down to let the lady shine/glow a bit more. i guess it looks more fun when you smile while you dance too.
Tequila Ranch is in Florida but not Miami, but rather Hollywood, FL (in the same complex as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel). I went there about 4 years ago or so.
Hello A2S’ers…
Glad that some of y’all found these vids interesting enough to be watchable.
I am by far not a fantastic spinner, but I do love the challenge that it represents as a dancer. Really cool that someone out there noticed.
Sooo… I wanted to give you guys a little insight to the first video shown above. Carlitos & I dance together a LOT, being that we’re great friends & live in the same MIA metro-area. Some of our dances are incredibly fun, chock-full of our best musicality, turn patterns, etc. … & some (like the above) are more chill. It can depend on the song, the location, & both of our moods combined. Video gurus of the world (myself included) should be hesitant to judge a dancer’s capabilities, enthusiasm, feeling for the music, etc. based on just a couple videos.
The dance with Milton, shown in the second vid above, was one of our first (if not THE first) dances together ever. Since then, we have danced many more times & I think our dances together are even sweeter than the one above. His lead is a dream.
In short, glad that you could appreciate & the recognition feels fantastic. If you want to see more vids of me (& others from MIA area), check out my YouTube account; I post new ones pretty consistently. Hope you enjoy.
Besos from paradise,
