Pocket Salsa for iPod Touch and iPhone

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3QOMX15KE

If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, you might have guessed why we have been very quiet over the past few months. While I am a salsa enthusiast, I’m also a “technologist” at heart (a.k.a “geek”). A few months ago, I started working on our first iPhone / iPod Touch application to help create a quick mobile reference guide to common salsa moves that everyone learns at their classes. My hope is that by allowing you to access any salsa learning material on the go, it will motivate you to practice “anywhere”, and therefore help you become a better dancer faster than you can sing “very simple” to clave. While we wait for Apple to approve our application submission to the AppStore, we decided to make a quick video to give you a preview on what to expect.

Please note that we shot all new shot video clips for this mobile format and we consider it supplemental to our salsa dance podcast or your local dance lessons.

Pocket Salsa on iTunes for iPhone / iPod Touch[UPDATE] The application is now available on the App Store.

A HUGE thank you to all of our beta testers. Your feedback was very helpful and kept me motivated to add awesome features! I’d like to send a special thank you to these beta testers for being the active contributors to our beta group: Tom T., SalsAlx, Mehdi, Alex S. and Daniel Wong.

Violin Salsa : Hacha y Machete with Alfredo de la Fé

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYaD_G0bb38

Inspired by the Violin Solo that I created with GarageBand a few months ago, a Addicted2Salsa Facebook fan asked if I could recommend a good salsa dancing song that contain a good violin section. And of course, I remember the West Coast Salsa Congress when the group Hacha y Machete (Victor and Burju) performed the song “Hacha y Machete” with Alfredo De La Fé, a famous violinist. I decided to post it here so that everyone could enjoy it as well.

Día Nacional de la Salsa en Puerto Rico 2010

For those who may not know, March 21st 2010, is National Day for Salsa in my home country of Puerto Rico. Every year they are honoring Johnny Ortiz, and they have an amazing lineup of artists including Ray de la Paz, Gilberto Santa Rosa and the famous El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.

If you’d like to listen to the live and official salsa radio station of Puerto Rico, check out Zeta93.fm . This is a great way to listen to salsa music especially if you are in an area where there are no salsa radio stations : Zeta93.fm Radio

Thank you to mambo-inn.com for recording videos and taking photos:

Salsa Dancing for Couples

Now that Valentine’s Day is upon us we thought it would be appropriate to add some more salsa romance into our dance steps. A lot of our fans are couples who enjoy learning to salsa dance with each other – some have even met through salsa dancing! We hope that salsa dancing continues to bring romance to your relationship and enjoy this salsa dance video lesson! The major tip for the lesson is that adding musicality and style at the right moments can turn any great dance into a memorable one!

Oh No They Didn’t II : The Merengue Dancing Dog

As the video below clearly shows,  this trainer should probably get psychological help and we need to provide this dog  a new home. Just because the song is ‘El Baile del Perrito’, which means ‘The Dance of the Small Dog’, doesn’t mean that you should train your dog to merengue dance in order to get a treat.
