No Sound for Pocket Salsa on the iPad? Here is the fix.

This is due because most likely the ‘soft mute’ button has been previously enabled. To fix it, double-tap the ‘Home‘ button. This will make a bar at the bottom of the iPad appear. Scroll that bottom bar all the way to the left. You may see a ‘speaker-like’ icon on the far left. Tap that button until there is no line through the image (which would enable sound) and then raise the volume again on the iPad. If you don’t see the icon shown on the left, make sure the hardware toggle-switch on the right side of the  iPad is not in the orange position and raise the volume. Verify if audio now plays in the library section. This issue is due to the fact that Apple decided to override the ‘rotation-lock’ button with the ‘mute’ switch on the iPad starting in iOS 5.0 and audio plays differently for YouTube videos and tracks compared to movies played within an app. (I know it sounds weird – no pun intended). Send us an email if you continue to have issues.

    Great App!
    i hope you´ll add more moves :)

  • Its not in the app store how do i get it?

  • Any chance of an Android/Google version, for us non-iPhone users?

    Thanks

  • dan christensen

thats cool as hell! anthony, i need to share this with all my salsa friends. thank you so much for your passion

  • John, if you read the article again, you’ll see that it’s been submitted for approval by apple, thereby it isn’t available yet. Hopefully It will be soon, as I look forward to adding it to my iPod.

  • Android phones became Marketing leader, so please please please guys, provide an Android Alp :-) You would also first! Your work rocks, thank-you a lot, guys :-)

  • Looking at the app contents – presumably as a web app the content could quickly port to Android (bearing in mind the Android media player) – would help with the Android handset/OS market fragmentation.

  • Only the videos are external, everything in the app is ‘baked’ in. I’ll think what we can do for Android in the next few weeks if demand is large enough – I just need to catch up on sleep (I was the only one coding this app :-) , time for some rest).

  • I love your videos, and watch the podcasts, so a great thank you for them.

I was so pleased I thought I’d buy your app, but it does not work!! All I get when I try to show the videos is a black screen (though I can hear the sound)!!!

I am very disappointed and wish to have my money back.

    • IPOD TOUCH 2G USERS: I’m fixing an issue that was found with the video encoding. This would cause the ‘audio’ to only be heard with no picture. I’m in the process of isolating the issue and resolving it in the next update. Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience.

  • hi anthony, i have the same problem with hugh.

i’ve just bought your pocket salsa after watching your dance lessons in you tube. you are great teacher anthony. that’s prompted me to buy the pocket salsa for my iphone 3GS. since the first time i’ve tried to open it (the lessons), it was loading, then when i press start for the player, i only have black screen – no sounds, no pictures, no nothing.

i’ve tried numerous times and for everyone of your lessons. they failed to load n open.

do you have the issue with the video encoding for iphone too n what do i do now that i bought the application that does not work.

    tks

  • Android App is needed! Great job, Anthony! can’t wait..

  • Antonio Rodriguez

tienes un estudio en utah? en donde puedo tomar clases de baile? y bailes bachata tambien?

  • Another request for this to be on Android.. they are soon to be the largest market in the US for mobile OS’s with about 100k new phones being bought every single day.

  • Android app please!!!

  • Anthony,
    great app.

I am glad that you’ve added more Practice Rhythms.

    1) It would be helpful if it would be possible to differentiate where 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 is.
If it would be implemented as some graphical interface – even better.

    2) It would be great if we could mix several Rhythms – start one and then second, third.

With these 2 features I, personally, would be willing to pay for “Salsa Rhythms” as for a separate application ;) . Depending on implementation – from 5 to 10 EUR.
Of course if it would be an enhancement to an existing “Pocket Salsa” even better ;)

    Regards,
    Urahara

  • An Android app would be amazing!

  • Okay – I’m going to look really silly. I’ve downloaded the app and can download videos from my phone, but how can I do that from within my computer to save phone data costs?

    Regards,

    Alan

  • Will a symbian version of Pocket Salsa be available? Thanx!!

  • Hi Anthony,

    great app!

weird, both paid and free addicted2salsa app icons are the same with the ‘free’ word appearing over the icon!

also, the paid version features offline viewing of the videos. Apparently it is not working on my iphone as well? I watched few dance clips and when i switched off my network, i cannot re-watch anymore…

also, any possibility of expanding a new page to your current video page cos I understand not all videos shown on the web are updated dynamically into the bought app as well ?

thoroughly enjoyed your app and ur amazing websites!

    with regards,
    ww

    • ignore my statement about the clips not saving, cos i just discovered it’s the user fault :) Just need to click on the ‘star’ to save! pardon me.

    • The videos in the app are special videos just for the application – not the same as the website. I will be adding the addicted2salsa podcast videos (website) into the application soon, therefore the application will feature more content than is found on our website. Enjoy!

  • wow! This is the coolest app ever!I recommend it to all my students!

  • Will you release a version for BlackBerry?

  • When the application will include more videos?. At least it should include the web site ones

  • I saw there is a new update today. It is not compatible with iPod 4G, is there any chance of it being compatible in the near future?

  • Pocket Salsa for Blackberry???

  • It’d be nice to have backwards compatibility for ios 4+ . Was looking forward to trying out the PocketSalsa App since I just got an iPhone 3G but was disappointed to see that the app is only compatible with ios 5

    • To support a lot of the new features like AirPlay, high quality videos, faster downloading and other internal factors (like ARC) we had to move to iOS5. It was a tough decision to make, but we think the value that was added (and more will come) will outweigh some of the legacy issues that we had with 4.0

  • Hey Anthony you have great videos! I want to ask if you will be putting an app for the blackberry?? =)

  • 100 Workout

Holy crap, the iPhone app is amazing! Thanks for sharing these, we’re trying to think up some ways to get salsa incorporated into workout and fitness programs and PocketSalsa is perfect for this.

    Cheers!

  • A business enterprise demands to move quickly so as to maximize its profit potential. To put it differently, something that contributes to lag time or perhaps a slowing down in the ability of a business to maneuver about its, nicely, company keeps the company from driving its sources in the direction of where it’ll generate maximum earnings.iphone 4 cases
