This advanced salsa dance video lesson will teach you how to perform short but intricate pattern that we call the cross body lead flick lock combo. It is based on the original DPS lock combo from one of our "old school" salsa dance episodes, but made more advanced by creating a DPS lock with a hand flick after a cross body lead. Please be careful with this move as it is advanced and requires good timing to not hurt your dance partner.
The song used is "Tu Con El" by Frankie Ruiz. I also highly recommend "La Cura" - one of my all time favorites.
Practice this material with counts first and music second. Once the rhythm feels steady, add expression without letting the timing drift.
Stronger rhythm awareness helps every other part of salsa. Even if the move itself is simple, better timing makes the whole dance look calmer and more confident.
